The Visitor (All Horizons Syndicate, Marseille, 1998)

Three works are chosen on the grounds of their proximity to primary schools, from the municipal records of public sculptures in Marseilles. Sealed plaster replicas are made, given a title, and installed as ‘witnesses’ on the forecourts of vacant commercial real estate. Each is then photographed in situ, framed and hung next to a caption [typeset by the exhibition space] bearing reference to the imagined names of the real estates’ future leaseholders.
